Today is Day 3.
Walking in New York holding hands is one of my most favorite things to do. Today I had a chance to do exactly that: walk in the streets of New York, gazing and the holiday crowd, kiosks and decorated trees. It is cool air on my face, as I breathe it in, I can feel the sensation of coolness in my throat. I notice the cool air in my nosdrills and on my cheeks. I move my hat deeper on my head and I transfer my attention to my body. My body is warm, wrapped inside my down coat, warm in my back and warm in the front. My hand is warm inside the glove and is holding my partner’s hand. There is particular warmth inside the palm of my hand. The more my attention moves into the center of the palm of my hand the warmer it becomes. I experience the warmth from the center of my palm raising up to my elbow, shoulder and neck. As we walk I feel the motion of our hands rhythmically wave, holding onto each other. The fingers of my hand begin to feel the cold air through the thin layer of my cashmere glove. I curl my fingers into the center to warm them. My other hand is in my pocket and it feels warmth. I move my fingers to feel the warmth and it is soft and dry. My feet are walking comfortably in my boots meeting the pavement in a rhythm of our walk. I notice that I feel relaxed and calm. This feels great, I run this feeling through my body now, as I write this. Calm and relaxed. Yet energized. Calm and relaxed. Over and over. For the next 10 minutes. My hands are warm and I uncurl the fingers to feel the grip on my partner’s gloved hand. The lock of our hands is comfortable and relaxed, yet filled with motion and rhythm… Deeply satisfying is the warmth of my hand in my partner’s hand, as we walk. Soft and warm. soft and warm.
I enjoy doing this exercise with you. Let me know what is happening in your life as you begin to attend to your own sensations of pleasure.
