Meaning of Life
Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life’s deepest joy: true fulfillment.
Tony Robbins
My clients come to me when they start looking for meaning in their life they find themselves in need of guidance. There is a way people want to express themselves for increased levels of efficiency and effortlessness in various areas in their life. Particularly if they tasted success earlier and now want to recapture the idea to which they devoted earlier chapters of their life.
By early 30s, we begin to seek confirmation of our successes outside ourselves, they let the external markers validate our self-esteem. By early 40s we are looking for the meaning of what we have achieved. Confirmation that we are on the right path, and what the right way is. We begin to ask ourselves fundamental questions seeking and sometimes not finding support in our long held beliefs.
Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? Am I on the right track? What is the right track, path, life? What was I supposed to be doing with my life? Am I doing it? Why is it not satisfying to just put one foot in front of the other?
John, 33, is a fashion photographer, and is very connected with his spiritual guidance. In his travels all over the world, John discovers many distractions from his work. He finds that he is easily influenced by new friends, shiny fads, and others’ opinions. His editor wants more from him, yet John’s interest is in creating art, not magazine. His Guide challenged John’s daily passivity toward fulfillment and satisfaction. Questions emerge like “Whose life am I living?”
He received an instruction: “You can do more.” John’s first response was, that it is too much effort to change for an elusive unknown…. The spiritual guide persisted with the challenge informing him, that he was already uncomfortable, and it was bound to get worse. The spiritual message was, “Make a decision and commit to action toward living your life actively, intentionally and in a self-directed way. One has to give up passivity, indecision, apathy, for action to take place. The result in satisfaction and fulfillment.”
The suggestion was to take the next step, to begin to make art in a spare time as a hobby. John wants to make a commitment to take this action. Unfortunately, the commitment to take action is often met with unconscious resistance because of old habits. He is used to going out with friends, and distracting himself with other activities, that interfere with his life intentions. John wants to make changes but he is often unable to follow through on his own. This is the reason clients might choose a longer term relationship with me. This way old habits can be replaced with new and desired behaviors, which are generated in the higher consciousness space…
